What changes
Microsoft plans to switch business users to new Outlook by default from March 2027. Users can switch back for a while, but desktop add-ins such as eFiler Classic will not appear in new Outlook.
What stays the same
Your filing locations, your folder structure and every email you have already filed. eFiler365 indexes the .msg files eFiler Classic saved, as well as the .eml files it saves itself.

Move in three steps
- Pilot. Run eFiler365 alongside eFiler Classic with one project team.
- Connect. Add the same filing locations in the eFiler365 Hub. Nothing is moved or copied.
- Switch. Move each team to eFiler365 as they get new Outlook, at a pace that suits you.

What firms ask us
Do I have to move now?
No. Classic Outlook and eFiler Classic remain supported. Moving early lets you choose the timing rather than react to Microsoft’s.
Can eFiler Classic and eFiler365 run side by side?
Yes. Both file to the same folders, so a mixed team still builds one project record.
Will my old filed emails be searchable?
Yes. eFiler Sync indexes the existing .msg and .eml files in the locations you connect, so your history is searchable from day one.
What about filing sent messages?
A prompt to save sent messages is coming soon. Today, eFiler365+ rules can file sent email automatically.
Can I file from a shared mailbox?
Microsoft only lets web add-ins run on licensed mailboxes. Convert the shared mailbox to a licensed one and assign it an eFiler365 licence.
I already have eFiler+. Can I move to eFiler365?
Existing eFiler+ licence holders can cross grade to eFiler365 by request, or ask for a quotation to add eFiler365 to their existing subscription. Not every eFiler Classic feature is in eFiler365, and eFiler365 has features Classic does not, so compare them first. Talk to us.
How long will classic Outlook be supported?
Microsoft has said classic Outlook will be fully supported and updated until at least 2029, so you can plan the move when it suits you.
Do I need a server?
It’s best, but not essential. In almost all cases an admin installs eFiler Sync as a service on a server that is always on, for one user or many. It can also run on each user’s PC, where each copy works independently. See how eFiler365 works.
